Milk is an exceptionally valuable nutritional product — and most of its volume is water. Concentrating milk 5X–7X before distribution reduces transportation, refrigerated freight, storage volume, packaging and distribution energy, and the associated greenhouse-gas emissions, per unit of milk solids moved.

The Milx process concentrates milk volumetrically 5X–7X, so less than one-seventh of the packaging and distribution energy is required — there is simply less to ship.
Because Milx is aseptically packaged and commercially sterile, continuous refrigerated distribution is not required, removing another significant component of traditional dairy logistics. A nine-month commercial quality shelf life also reduces the product loss created when short shelf-life windows, production schedules and demand do not align.

Calculating Carbon Footprint
The Green House Gas emissions for USA fluid milk processing plants were first documented in detail by Nutter et al., 2013, in the International Dairy Journal (31, (2013) S57-S64). This benchmarked the greenhouse gasses produced during the processing of milk in a dairy and subsequent distribution.
Using this article as a reference, Milx Technologies is using the same methodology to determine the carbon footprint of the Milx process.
As shown in the graph above, an advanced equipment model was used for calculating the utilities for all of the processing equipment, packaging, and distribution. Milx Technologies, Inc. has accurate predictive models of the GHG produced during the production and distribution of Milx. As the equipment is installed in the first commercial facility, we will calculate the greenhouse gasses emitted by our process.
